Artist's Comments

Acrylic on canvas, 48"x24"

This is the view from the top of the Pan Pacific, overlooking Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, and the North Shore. Obviously, some elements have been exaggerated!

As I recall, I was in some communications summit type meeting when I took the reference photograph. It was a beyond-gorgeous summer day.

When I am rich - in about 5 years - I'll hire you to entirely paint my mansion. Every room will have murals by you, and eventually it'll become a museum to your glory. :D

:D You're the best, Nick. And I'd so do it! Where will said mansion be?

I have no idea yet! But I do plan on owning several real estates, so I could own one in Vancouver! Talking of which, I have a very good friend in that city, who's a talented artist, but not motivated enough, and I wish you guys would meet! I'll write you a note about her, although she ISN'T very thrilled at the idea of that, as you aren't either I'm sure! But I think you ladies would get along great. No pressure though! Note incoming!

Hey, sure! But why wouldn't we be thrilled?

Oh, and Vancouver real estate is a fabulous investment.

You? Exaggerate details? ;) Love this, glad to see you submitting work here again...if I might ask...how/where/what inspired you to develop this style of painting...shoot...I don't even know what to call it. But I hadn't seen it before!

I am (embarassingly) catching up on all my comments now. Thanks so much for the question. There are a few artists in the area that paint in a similar distorted style, so a lot of it is influence.

When I give talks, I often talk about being a runner (just so people don't think I'm all hopped up on hallucinogens) and how scenery looks and feels when you're running through it full of fresh air and endorphins. Vancouver is a health-nut city, so that seems to resonate with people.

Then the real truth is that I'm kind of lazy with perspective.
