Acrylic on Canvas, 30" wide X 24" tall Status: Sold
Commission piece. I hesitated posting this one, because it's a recreation of one I've already done, so nothing new! But comparing this one with my earlier effort, version II does seem brighter. I remember staring at it and going, "But it looks just like the other one! Agh! Have I learned nothing?" (on the other hand, it's kinda reassuring to know you *can* recreate things - though heaven help me if I go all Warhol on this one for years, cranking out Kits Neighborhoods like so many soup can lithographs).
Thing is, I guess it's the subtle improvements that help. I've learned a bit more about how to make colors screamingly bright. In this one, the bushes are yellow because the customer wanted more autumn shades in the picture. I guess that gives it more of an every-crayon-in-the-box feel. Otherwise, it's the same crowded, bright houses and slopy bridges. Movement and instability - characteristic of Kits.
It's around MacDonald & 7th. If you felt all squeezed in and like you were going the wrong way and there were too many irresponsible cyclists, you were no doubt driving there.
I felt that way about most of West Van. I tried to keep to the Sunshine Coast and Trans Canada Highway whenever possible. It's still pretty cool to be on a world renown website such as this one and spot someplace familiar. Thanks.
